![]() ![]() ![]() Catarafts have less drag then rafts and row well, but I just don't like them for fishing. I'm not a big fan of catarafts for fishing because if you drop something it's gone, and you will drop stuff. I also have a 14' Hyside Raft that I mainly use on the rivers. I have a 96 clackacraft drift boat with a 6 horse motor on it. Hope the info helps! PM me if you have other questions! If you want a boat for deeper/wider rivers and lakes, go with the Hyde! If you are looking for a boat for a large variety of rivers go with a cataraft! We also take it down the San Juan for some awesome fishing! As well as The Colorado at Pump House at lower water with no issues! You can get em down most navigateable rives even in lower water! Also if you have a chance or a desire to run "big water" or whitewater trips your cataraft will work great! A good friend has 16' Maravia that he took down the Grand Canyon. However, if you plan on using your boat on rivers here in Colorado all season, a cataraft might be a better answer. If you plan to use your boat on lakes as much as rivers I think the Drift Boat also is the answer! Mainly cause you can put a motor on it! If you were gonna be on bigger rivers only, the Hyde is the only way to go. They can be done, but a bit bumpy later in the season. The Hyde gets bumped up a bit on the Fork, Colorado, Arkansas and so on. You can put a motor on it and that's cool! Good with the little ones(kids) also! However If I was to do it again I might think about a Cataraft. Give us a call if you are looking to add some more excitement into your life.I love my Hyde! I wouldn't buy any other Drift Boat! Great storage, tracks well, great on a lot of different bodies of water. This is not a fly fishing boat, but it can be fished from.Īlong with all of this, it is equipped with the Hyde quality, innovation and structural strength to handle all of what the whitewater rivers can dish out. It can also be equipped with eye hooks to be helicoptered into the deepest back country. Also included in this design are up to seven dry storage bulkheads, which are equipped with water tight compartments to ensure you have a dry place to store all your gear for your trips down the river. Like a duck – the water just rolls off of its back. It’s made for the individual that wants a boat ready to handle the big water of the Grand Canyon and Cataract Canyon, as well as any other river you are skilled enough to run.Įquipped with four, large self-bailing ports, this boat can be completely submerged under water, and then will just pop up to take on more of the same rapid. This is a classic Hyde boat design, resurrected with many NEW Hyde exclusive improvements.
